Last day of school

Hi all,

Just a reminder that tomorrow is the last day of school for the year … in case anyone forgot haha.

In order to avoid the extreme heat forecast for this Friday 20th December, we intend to hold our final assembly under the COLA starting at 9.10am, not 12.30pm as previously advertised.

Mrs Ringrose has mentioned that if you wish you take your child home after assembly, you are welcome to sign them out at the office and take them home. This is also the case, if you would like them out of the heat, or leaving early to start their holidays.

I wanted to take the time now to thank you for a wonderful year. I’ve loved working with you all and teaching your beautiful students.

Wishing you all the best over holiday break.

Take care,

From,

Miss Ferrier.

Parent helper needed Thursday

Hi all,

Just a reminder that Mr Jackson’s Movie Day is on Thursday. I need ONE parent helper to join us for most of the day, travelling via bus to Greensborough and back around lunch.

If you are available on Thursday, please comment on this post or email me. It’ll be first in best dressed. You must be a verified parent helper and have the correct HPS documentation (ie. have helped within the classroom or on an excursion this year).

Thanks for your help.

Miss Ferrier.

Class Party

The Foundation cohort will be having a class party on Wednesday December 18th to celebrate a fantastic year together. We will be enjoying a pizza lunch which will cost $6 for at least two slices of pizza and a pop top fruit drink per child. If your child would like a pizza lunch, please ensure the $6 payment and pizza order form is given to your classroom teacher in a named envelope by Monday 16th December. Please ensure these are back by the due date as late orders cannot be accepted. Due to the time restraint, we will be unable to chase up families for orders. Please do not hesitate to contact your classroom teacher for any queries.

Movie Day

We will be venturing to Greensborough Hoyts to enjoy Shaun the Sheep on Thursday 19th December. Please ensure you have paid via Compass so that your child can join us on the day. I need ONE parent helper to join us for most of the day, travelling via bus and back around lunch.

If you are available on Thursday, please comment on this post or email me. It’ll be first in best dressed. You must be a verified parent helper and have the correct HPS documentation (ie. have helped within the classroom or on an excursion this year).

Swimming

Has now finished for the term. Thank you to all of the parent helpers who volunteered their time during the year.

Homework & Home Readers

Homework and nightly home readers have finished now for the year. Please keep your homework books at home and return all home readers.

Student Workbooks

Student books and belongings will now be coming home. Please expect your child to be bringing home a few things each day.

Meet the Teacher Day

Your child will be meeting their teacher and classmates for 2019 on Monday December 16th. Please ensure your child is not late on this day.

Library books

Please ensure ALL library books have been returned by the end of the year. We have an amazing library and would love it fully stocked and ready for 2019.

The Foundation team wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and safe and relaxing holiday.

Miss Ferrier 🙂

Miss Ferrier.

Thank you

Hi all,

I just wanted to say thank you to the beautiful students of Room 18 for being so resilient. I’ve been unwell and have some family issues going on at the moment, so very happy to see so many smiling faces today.

Thanks again,

Miss Ferrier.

Swimming tomorrow

Hi all,

Tomorrow is the last swimming lesson… We need students to bring an OLD t-shirt and OLD shorts/pants to swim in. This is in addition to their school uniform. This is part of their swimming assessment, so please ensure this comes to the pool tomorrow.

Thanks,

Miss Ferrier.

Water bottles/hats/sunscreen

Hi all,

Just a reminder to make sure your little ones have their water bottles and hats today as it’s going to be super hot. It might also be an idea to put sunscreen on before school and they can reapply in the classroom before lunch (if we go outside and the hot day timetable hasn’t been put in place).

Thanks,

Miss Ferrier.

Scrapbook

Hi all,

We have extra Soundwaves scrapbooks from previous years, as we did not use that part of the program and will be sending them home with students this afternoon. They are welcome to take this and use it at home if they wish.

Have a great weekend.

From,

Miss Ferrier.

  • Movie Day – This event is fast approaching – please note that payment and consent ASAP. Please complete this via Compass.
  • A Day in the Life – Ensuring our students have a smooth transition from one grade to the next grade each year is very important to us. At this time of the year we put an enormous amount of effort into placing students into grades for the following year and into our transition program. On Tuesday 10th December, all children will spend half a day experiencing the activities and routines of the next year level, they may not necessarily be with the teacher they will be having the following year. On Monday 16th December, they will meet their new teacher and classmates for 2020.
  • Christmas – During Weeks 10 and 11, we will be participating in Christmas-themed activities. If you would prefer for your child to not take part in these activities or our Christmas Carols, please let your classroom teacher know so that we can make other arrangements. Please wear Christmas themed clothing for the night – and shorts (if the weather is ok for it)!
  • Library Books – Please ensure all library books are returned to school over the next week.
  • Class Parties – These will be held in the last week of school.  More information will be provided to you early next week.\

HOMEWORK

  • Monday will be the final day for Oxford Wordlist assessments. If you would like your child to be assessed this week, please ensure their name and wordlists are put on the whiteboard.
  • From Monday, students will no longer be taking home their nightly readers. Please ensure all readers are returned to school as soon as possible so that we can count and organise these for 2020.

CHRISTMAS CAROLS – NEW DATE

  • Our Christmas Carols Concert is this Monday night and is a wonderful way for the community to come together to celebrate the year.  We extend a warm invitation to all our community to join us from 5:00 pm.
  • The Christmas concert will begin at 7pm so please ensure your child has arrived and is ready to perform before 7.
  • Make it a special night, bring a picnic rug or chairs and enjoy the entertainment. Food will be served from 5pm onwards. As usual the School Council are organising Drinks and Ice Creams for sale on the night. We would really appreciate some help with this. If anyone is willing to assist us on the stalls please let the office know.

Foundation students will be performing ‘Santa Wear Your Shorts’ and ‘All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth’.
